Overview
Novartis has been working in Saudi under official operation with legal entity since early 70’s in the name of Novartis’s parent’s former companies (Ciba, Giegy, Sandoz and Zyma and) whom merged into one entity named Novartis through our early 90’s, yet some other group members of companies to join the group like Alcon. Today Novartis in Saudi operates as multi-divisional experts in different clusters of disease areas and it was the first pharmaceutical model of foreign investment law under MISA .Novartis operates businesses with global scale and strong customer ties, focusing on innovative patented medicines, generics and eye care.

Novartis Saudi Arabia is driving a strategy of active participation in Saudi health care system and economy via different initiatives of collaboration with Government and local industry aiming to transfer technologies, local production and co-manufacturing. In doing so it has adopted SFDA, US-FDA, EU, PICs, WHO, ISO standards and in terms of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP), and International Conference for Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. Further it also develops its own standards to ensure that the products consistently meet the predefined standards.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – SAP, streamline business application and provide a high degree of confidence on managing critical quality/GMP processes.
Quality Assurance unit in SPC, ensures that quality systems are implemented, maintained, followed and improved. Line inspection provides assurance that the manufactured products follow the pre-determined in-process specifications and comply with its standards. The environmental conditions are being monitored and qualified. The water system is qualified to assure compliance with the regulations and standards.
Validation is an integral part of the quality system wherein it provides documented evidence with a high degree of assurance that a process, method or system will consistently produce to the required specification in accordance with accepted standards of cGMP and local or international regulations.
Quality Control activities cover all measures taken into the final product, including the setting of specifications, sampling, testing and analytical method to ensure that raw materials, intermediates, packaging materials and finished products comply with established specifications for identity, strength, purity and other characteristics.
Quality improvements are being accounted by undertaking good compliance program that assures strict adherence to the policies and principles of SPC Integrated Quality Management System.
SPC has collaborated with King Saud University and Princess Nora University to conduct internship program for senior pharmacy students.
In August 2020, SPC has started the first summer training program for pharmacy students with a program that designed to help the students to build their capabilities and give them an example of the real working life. Help students in deciding the kind of specialization they want to pursue, learn and Interact with Industry Experts.

The Saudi Society for Blood Disorders (SSBD) is a professional non-profit organization, founded according to Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) associations council recommendation and based on agreement letter number 1/A/2018 dated 30 May 2018 of Board of Trustees of SCFHS headed by the Minister of Health.

It is a professional non-profit organization. The Society aims to promote the advancement in management of the blood and marrow transplantation and related blood and cancer diseases. The Society represents multiple medical and scientific disciplines such as hematology, oncology, immunology, genetics, microbiology, pediatrics, and internal medicine.
